NBA: New Jersey 106, Chicago 97

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J., April 19 (UPI) -- Vince Carter had 24 points, 10 rebounds, and nine assists Wednesday night as New Jersey beat Chicago, 106-97.

With the victory, New Jersey captured the sixth seed in the Eastern Conference playoffs.

New Jersey led, 52-40, at the break, but only 71-70, entering the fourth quarter.

In the closing 12 minutes, New Jersey outscored Chicago, 35-27.

Mikki Moore scored 22 points; Richard Jefferson had 21 points and eight rebounds; while Bostjan Nachbar and Josh Boone each scored 15 points for the Nets, who will face the Atlantic Division champion Toronto Raptors in the first round beginning Saturday afternoon.

Kirk Hinrich led Chicago with 20 points and nine assists.

Andres Nocioni had 19 points and seven rebounds; while Luol Deng and Ben Gordon scored 15 points apiece for the Bulls, who dropped to the fifth seed in the East and will meet defending NBA champion Miami in the first round.
