MLB: Chi. Cubs 3, Atlanta 0

ATLANTA, April 19 (UPI) -- Rich Hill and Ryan Dempster combined on a four-hit shutout Thursday night as the Chicago Cubs beat Atlanta, 3-0.

The Cubs got their runs on solo home runs by Michael Barrett in the fourth and Aramis Ramirez in the sixth, and a Mark DeRosa RBI double in the eighth.

Barrett and Matt Murton had two hits each for the Cubs, who have split their last four games.

Hill (3-0) scattered four hits over eight innings, with three walks and seven strikeouts.

Dempster earned his third save of the season.

Kelly Johnson had two of the four hits for the Braves, who had won their previous two games.

Losing pitcher Mark Redman (0-3) yielded three earned runs and seven hits in 7 1/3 innings, with two walks and five strikeouts.
