MLB: Boston 4, Toronto 1

TORONTO, April 18 (UPI) -- Doug Mirabelli hit a solo home run and an RBI single Wednesday to help Boston beat the Toronto Blue Jays 4-1.

The single in the top of the seventh proved to be the eventual game-winning run.

Mike Lowell and David Ortiz also hit solo homers for the Red Sox, who have won three of their last four games.

Winning pitcher Tim Wakefield (2-1) gave up one earned run and four hits in seven innings. He also recorded three walks and four strikeouts.

Jonathan Paplebon earned his third save of the season.

John McDonald hit an RBI single in the bottom of the seventh, while four other players each had one hit for the Blue Jays, who have split their last four games.

Losing pitcher Tomo Ohka (0-2) surrendered four earned runs and four hits in 6 1/3 innings with one walk and three strikeouts. He gave up all of Boston's homers.
