DETROIT, April 12 (UPI) -- Pavel Datsyuk had a goal an assist Thursday night, as the Detroit Red Wings beat Calgary, 4-1, in Game 1 of their Western Conference quarterfinal series.
Nicklas Lidstrom and Mathieu Schneider also had a goal and an assist, Valtteri Filppula scored for the top-seeded Red Wings, and Dominik Hasek made 19 saves on 20 shots.
Alex Tanguay scored and Miikka Kiprusoff made 42 saves for Calgary, which was out-shot, 46-20 -- 21-5 in the second period alone.
Game 2 is set for Sunday afternoon in Detroit.
Detroit opened the scoring at 4:51 of the first, when Filppula scored off a feed from Johan Franzen. Lidstrom scored what turned out to be the game-winning goal less than four minutes later, after picking up a pass from Jiri Hudler.
