NBA: Golden State 110, Houston 99

HOUSTON, April 5 (UPI) -- Jason Richardson had 27 points and nine rebounds Wednesday night to lead Golden State over Houston, 110-99.

Golden State had a 57-52 lead at the break, and out-scored Houston, 53-47, to quell a comeback attempt.

Baron Davis had 25 points and 10 assists; and Stephen Jackson added 17 points, three rebounds, and six assists for the Warriors, who remained 1 1/2 games behind the Los Angeles Clippers for the eighth and final playoff spot in the Western Conference.

Luther Head led Houston with 30 points and six rebounds.

Rafer Alston had 18 points and three assists; Shane Battier had 17 points and six rebounds; while Yao Ming was held to nine points for the Rockets, who played most of the game without Tracy McGrady, who left midway through the first quarter with a stiff back.

Despite the loss, Houston retained the fifth spot in the West.
