NHL: Ottawa 5, Montreal 2

OTTAWA, March 30 (UPI) -- Mike Fisher had two goals and an assist Friday night as the Ottawa Senators downed the Montreal Canadiens, 5-2.

Ottawa built a 3-1 lead after the first period as Mike Fisher, Jason Spezza and Mike Comrie all scored to trump a goal by Montreal's Sheldon Souray.

Montreal got a power-play goal from Mark Streit at 2:43 of the third period to pull within 3-2, but goals by Mike Fisher and Dany Heatley later in the third capped the scoring.

Comrie added two assists, Spezza and Heatley both had one assist, and Ray Emery made 26 saves on 28 shots for the Senators, who have won four of their last five games and already have secured a playoff berth.

Jaroslav Halak made 32 saves on 36 shots for the Canadiens, whose five-game winning streak was snapped.

They were able to maintain their hold on the eighth and final spot in the Eastern Conference playoff race with 86 points.
