NHL: N.Y. Rangers 4, Carolina 1

RALEIGH, N.C., Feb. 15 (UPI) -- Michael Nylander had a goal and an assist Thursday night to lead the New York Rangers to a 4-1 victory at Carolina.

Nylander scored less than 90 seconds into the contest to give New York a quick 1-0 lead. Carolina's Andrew Ladd tied it at 1-1 less than a minute later.

Goals by Karel Rachunek and Pascal Dupuis in the second period, and by Brendan Shanahan in the third, capped the scoring.

Like Nylander, Rachunek also had an assist, and Henrik Lundqvist gave up one goal on 24 shots for the Rangers, who have won three in a row following a four-game losing streak.

Cam Ward was beaten four times on 27 shots for the Hurricanes, who had won three of four before the loss.

New York was a perfect 3-for-3 on the power play, while Carolina was 0-for-3.
