NBA: Dallas 113, Memphis 97

DALLAS, Feb. 8 (UPI) -- Dirk Nowitzki scored a game-high 38 points Wednesday night to lead the Dallas Mavericks to a 113-97 victory over the Memphis Grizzlies.

Dallas closed the first quarter with a 12-3 run, capped by a Nowitzki jumper at the buzzer, for a 40-24 lead heading into the second, and went on to take a 56-45 halftime lead.

Josh Howard had 23 points and nine rebounds, Devean George had 15 points and five rebounds, and Jason Terry added 12 points and five assists for the Mavericks, who extended their latest winning streak to five games and won for the 16th straight time at home.

Pau Gasol led the Grizzlies with 29 points and nine rebounds. Mike Miller had 21 points, seven rebounds, and four assists; and Rudy Gay added 12 points and seven rebounds for the Grizzlies, who have dropped their last four games.
