PITTSBURGH, Dec. 28 (UPI) -- Atlanta scored twice in both the second and third periods Wednesday night to beat the Pittsburgh Penguins, 4-2.
The Penguins grabbed a 1-0 lead on a power play goal by Erik Christensen at 16:51 in the first period; but Vitaly Vishnevski and Niclas Havelid scored in the second to give Atlanta a 2-1 advantage heading into the second intermission.
Slava Kozlov scored at 7:04 of the third; Bobby Holik scored an empty-net goal; and Kari Lehtonen made 35 saves on 37 shots forthe Thrashers, who have a five-game winning streak.
Ryan Whitney scored 57 seconds into the third period to tie the game at 2-2; and Marc-Andre Fleury gave up three goals on 30 shots for the Penguins, who have lost five straight games.
On the power play, both teams were 2-for-6.
