NHL: Washington 4, Dallas 3

WASHINGTON, Nov. 30 (UPI) -- Alexander Semin scored the eventual game-winning goal Thursday night as Washington held on to edge the Dallas Stars, 4-3.

Washington went into the third period with a 4-1 lead after scoring two goals in each of the first two periods.

The Stars scored twice in the third period to make the game close in the end.

Richard Zednik, Chris Clark, Matt Pettinger and Semin each scored one goal. Semin scored at 19:48 of the second period.

Jakub Klepis had two assists, and Olaf Kolzig made 35 saves on 38 shots for the Capitals, who have won two games in a row following a six-game losing streak.

Jussi Jokinen scored twice, Philippe Boucher had two assists, while goaltenders Mike Smith and Marty Turco combined to give up four goals on 23 shots for the Stars, who suffered their third straight road loss.

On the power play, Washington was 2-for-5, and the Stars went 0-for-4.
