Sorenstam out at the ADT Championship

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla., Nov. 17 (UPI) -- Two-time defending champion Annika Sorenstam Friday missed the cut at the ADT Championship in West Palm Beach, Fla.

The world's top-ranked women's golfer was out after shooting even-par 72 in the tournament's second round. With a 2-over 74 Thursday, Sorentsam's overall total was 2-over 146.

"I tried hard," Sorenstam said. "There wasn't much more I could do."

She was one shot off the cut line and nine shots worse than tournament leader Ai Miyazato of Japan.

The LPGA rookie, who also led after Thursday's first round, shot 4-under 68 for a two-round score of 7-under 137.

Paraguay's Julieta Granada (69) is second at 5-under 139.

The tournament included the tour's top 32 money winners when it started.

Other players who qualified for Saturday's third round were Karrie Webb (140), Wendy Ward (141), Paula Creamer (142), Se Ri Pak (142) and Il Mi Chung (142).
