NHL: Montreal 3, Edmonton 2 (SO)

MONTREAL, Nov. 7 (UPI) -- Alexei Kovalev scored the winning goal in the shootout Tuesday night to give the Montreal Canadiens a 3-2 victory over the Edmonton Oilers.

With each team scoring a goal in the shootout, Fernando Pisani missed the net for Edmonton as the puck slid off his stick lead. Kovalev then raced in on goal and put the puck just inside the left post past the outstretched pads of Dwayne Roloson.
