MLS: Dallas 2, Salt Lake 1

FRISCO, Texas, Sept. 23 (UPI) -- FC Dallas made it to the playoffs Saturday as its 2-1 victory over Real Salt Lake clinched a MLS post-season slot.

Dallas took an early 2-0 lead, when Carlos Ruiz scored his 11th goal in the ninth minute off a feed from Greg Vanney and Kenny Cooper connected five minutes later due to the playmaking of Abe Thompson, for his 10th of the season.

Ruiz and Cooper are the two leading scorers for FC.

Salt Lake got on the scoreboard when Jeff Cunningham made a goal during the 48th minute.
