MLB: Washington 3, N.Y. Mets 2

NEW YORK, Sept. 22 (UPI) -- Pedro Astacio gave up two runs and nine hits in 6 1/3 innings Friday night as Washington edged the New York Mets, 3-2.

Austin Kearns hit a solo home run, while both Felipe Lopez and Ryan Zimmerman hit RBI singles for the Nationals (67-86), who have won four of their last six games.

Astacio (5-5) walked two batters and struck out four.

Chad Cordero earned his 28th save.

Ricky Ledee hit a solo homer, Endy Chavez hit an RBI single and had three hits, and Cliff Floyd had two hits for the Mets (92-61), who have lost three straight games.

Losing pitcher Orlando "El Duque" Hernandez (10-11) yielded three runs and eight hits in seven innings with one walk and eight strikeouts.
