Howell, Curtis lead at 84 Lumber Classic

FARMINGTON, Pa., Sept. 16 (UPI) -- Charles Howell III and 2003 British Open champion Ben Curtis were tied for the lead Saturday after the third round of the PGA's 84 Lumber Classic.

Howell, winless since 2002, posted a 4-under 68. Curtis had a 69 to share first place at 12-under-par 204.

Sixteen players are within four shots of the lead with one round to go.

Hunter Mahan (67), Robert Garrigus (68) and Greg Owen (68) are tied for third at 205. Greg Kraft (66), Bo Van Pelt (67) and overnight co-leader Ryan Moore (71) share sixth at 10-under 206.

Play was delayed almost three hours at the start due to dense fog. Officials shifted things around and sent the players out in threesomes off both the first and 10th tees.
