NEW YORK, Sept. 6 (UPI) -- Odalis Perez threw a complete-game five-hit shutout Wednesday as the New York Mets trounced Atlanta, 8-0, for a doubleheader sweep.
Shawn Green had two runs and three hits, including a two-run homer; Endy Chavez had two hits and two RBI; Chris Woodward hit a two-run double; Jose Reyes had two hits, including a solo homer; and Julio Franco hit a run-scoring single for the Mets (86-52), who have won seven of their last 10 games.
Perez is 1-1 since being acquired from Pittsburgh earlier this summer.
He had one walk and six strikeouts.
Marcus Giles had two of the five hits for the Braves (66-73), who have split their last 10 games.
Losing pitcher Kyle Davies (2-5) was charged with six runs and seven hits in five innings.
New York won the first game, 4-1.
