MLB: Philadelphia 3, Houston 2

PHILADELPHIA, Sept. 4 (UPI) -- Chase Utley hit a home run in the bottom of the 10th inning with two outs Monday to give the Philadelphia Phillies a 3-2 win over the Houston Astros.

Houston pitcher Dave Borkowski (1-2) got two quick outs in the 10th inning before Utley crushed a 3-1 pitch to deep right field to end a 12-game losing streak for Houston dating back to May 18, 2003.

Cole Hamels started for Philadelphia and pitched eight innings. He gave up two runs on three hits while striking out eight. Rick White (3-1) got the win.

Ryan Howard hit his 53rd home run of the season for the Phillies, who trail San Diego by one game in the NL wild card race.

Houston starting pitcher Roger Clemens pitched five innings and gave up one run on one hit. Clemens left the game because of a strained right groin.
