MLB: Oakland 9, Texas 3

ARLINGTON, Texas, Aug. 26 (UPI) -- Barry Zito got his 100th career victory Friday night as Oakland beat the Texas Rangers, 9-3.

Nick Swisher had two hits and three RBI; Milton Bradley had a hit and two RBI; Mark Kotsay, Mark Ellis each drove in a run; one run scored on a throwing error by Texas shortstop Michael Young; Jay Payton had two runs and three hits; while Eric Chavez had two runs and two hits for the Athletics (73-55), who have won four of their last five games.

In 8 1/3 innings, Zito (14-8) gave up only three runs and two hits with two walks and two strikeouts.

He took a no-hitter into the eighth inning.

Carlos Lee hit a two-run triple; Mark Texeira hit an RBI ground-out; and Mark DeRosa had two of the three hits for the Rangers (66-64), who have split their last 10 games.

The losing pitcher was Edinson Volquez (1-3).
