MLB: Pittsburgh 7, Cincinnati 3

CINCINNATI, Aug. 19 (UPI) -- Xavier Nady had four hits and three RBI Friday night to help Pittsburgh beat the Cincinnati Reds, 7-3.

One of his hits was a three-run homer in the third inning.

Jack Wilson hit a solo homer; Freddy Sanchez had a run and four hits; and Jason Bay had two runs and two hits for the Pirates (47-75), who won for the fifth time in their last seven games.

Winner Ian Snell (11-8) gave up a run and four hits in seven innings with four walks and five strikeouts.

Javier Valentin and Edwin Encarnacion hit solo homers; while Valentin and Ken Griffey, Jr. combined for four of the six hits for the Reds (62-60), who lost for the third time in four games and fell 3 1/2 games behind St. Louis in the National League Central.

Loser Chris Michalak (1-1) surrendered six runs and nine hits in four innings.
