CHICAGO, Aug. 11 (UPI) -- Scott Podsednik had two hits and two RBI Thursday night as the Chicago White Sox edged the New York Yankees, 5-4.
Podsedniks RBI single in the bottom of the sixth inning capped the scoring for Chicago (67-46), which won two of the three one-run games in the series.
The White Sox have split their last four games.
Winner Javier Vazquez (11-6) gave up two runs and six hits in five innings with six walks and eight strikeouts. Bobby Jenks earned his 31st save.
Jason Giambi and Melky Cabrera hit two-run homers; Craig Wilson had a run and two hits; while both Robinson Cano and Johnny Damon had two hits for the Yankees (67-44), who lost for only the fourth time in their last 15 games.
Losing pitcher Mike Mussina (13-5) surrendered five runs and eight hits in six innings with one walk and six strikeouts.
