Hornets sign Bobby Jackson

OKLAHOMA CITY, July 27 (UPI) -- Veteran point guard Bobby Jackson Wednsday signed an undisclosed contract with the New Orleans/Oklahoma City Hornets.

Last season, Jackson played for the Memphis Grizzlies, and had per game averages of 11.4 points and 2.8 assists.

His playing time was limited, and in the NBA Draft, the Grizzlies selected point guard Kyle Lowry, who left Villanova after his sophomore season.

In his career, Jackson, who will be entering his 10th NBA season, is averaging 10.2 points, 3.2 rebounds and 2.7 assists in 556 games. He will spell reigning Rookie of the Year Chris Paul. While with Sacramento in the 2001-02 season, Jackson was second in voting for the NBA's Sixth Man of the Year honor.
