MLB: Philadelphia 6, San Francisco 2

SAN FRANCICO, Calif., July 16 (UPI) -- David Bell homered and tripled Sunday to lead the Philadelphia Phillies to a 6-2 victory over the San Francisco Giants.

Brett Myers (6-3) pitched seven innings, giving up two runs on five hits with one walk and seven strikeouts. Myers was returning from a leave of absence from the team following his arrest June 23 arrest on charges of assault and battery for allegedly hitting his wife, Kim, while the team was in Boston.

Bell and Aaron Rowand each drove in two runs, Chase Utley had two hits, and Ryan Howard drove in a run for the Phillies, winners in four of their last five games.

Steve Kline (2-2) suffered the loss, surrendering three runs on two hits with one walk in only 1/3 inning.

Barry Bonds hit the 721st homer of his career, Ray Durham clubbed a homer for the fourth time in five games and Mark Sweeney doubled for the Giants, losers in three of their last four games.
