MLB: Baltimore 5, Cleveland 4

CLEVELAND, July 9 (UPI) -- Javy Lopez hit a solo homer Sunday afternoon as Baltimore came back to edge the Cleveland Indians, 5-4.

Baltimore overcame Cleveland's four-run second inning.

Lopez and Brian Fahey both had a run and three hits, Miguel Tejada had two hits and one RBI, and Jeff Conine hit an RBI groundout for the Orioles (41-49), who got one of their runs on a wild pitch by Cleveland reliever Rafael Perez. He blew a save opportunity in the top of the seventh.

The winner was reliever Kurt Birkins (4-1). Chris Ray earned his 22nd save.

Jhonny Peralta hit an RBI triple, and Aaron Boone belted an RBI double for the Indians (40-47), who got two of their runs on Baltimore errors.

The Indians ended the season's first half with four losses in their last five games.

The losing pitcher was Fausto Carmona (1-3).
