MLB: N.Y. Yankees 6, Baltimore 5

BALTIMORE, June 2 (UPI) -- Derek Jeter singled home the winning run in the top of the ninth inning Friday night as the New York Yankees edged Baltimore, 6-5.

Jeter had one run, three hits and two RBI; Jason Giambi and Andy Phillips hit home runs; and Johnny Damon had two runs and two hits for the Yankees (32-21), who have won six of their last seven games.

Winning pitcher Kyle Farnsworth improved to 2-3.

Miguel Tejada had two runs and three hits; Ramon Hernandez had three hits and one RBI; and Javy Lopez had one run, three hits and one RBI for the Orioles (25-30), who have dropped two straight following a three-game winning streak.

The loser was Chris Ray (1-1).
