DETROIT, May 28 (UPI) -- Jason Michaels hit a grand slam homer Sunday as Cleveland blasted Detroit, 9-0, breaking the Tigers' eight-game winning streak.
Travis Hafner, who also homered, had one run, two hits and two RBI; Aaron Boone had two runs and three hits; and Tim Laker had one run, two hits and two RBI for the Indians (24-25), who were able to avoid being swept by the Tigers for the second time this season.
Former Tiger Jason Johnson (3-4) scattered six hits over six scoreless innings with no walk and two strikeouts.
Chris Shelton had two of the Tigers' seven hits.
Detroit is 35-15.
Losing pitcher Kenny Rogers (7-3) yielded six hits and five runs in 4 1/3 innings. He walked three and struck out two.
Detroit had not won eight straight games since its 1984 World Series season.
