DETROIT, May 26 (UPI) -- Curtis Granderson had two hits and a career-high five RBI Friday night as Detroit beat Cleveland, 8-3, for its seventh straight win.
Craig Monroe had two runs and two hits; Marcus Thames had two runs, one hit and one RBI; and Chris Shelton had one hit and two runs for the Tigers (34-14), who have been the talk of the season under new manager Jim Leyland.
Winning pitcher Nate Robertson (5-2) allowed three runs and seven hits in six-plus innings with one walk and two strikeouts.
Jhonny Peralta had two hits and one RBI, Eduardo Perez hit a solo homer, and both Aaron Boone and Jason Michaels had one run and one hit for the Indians (23-24), who have dropped two of their last three games.
Losing pitcher Jake Westbrook fell to 4-3.
Detroit has won 14 of its last 15 games. Granderson played his 100th consecutive game without an error.
