MLB: Detroit 5, Minnesota 3

DETROIT, May 18 (UPI) -- Placido Polanco and Brandon Inge both hit home runs Thursday afternoon as Detroit beat Minnesota, 5-3, to complete a three-game sweep.

Polanco had three hits, one RBI and one run scored; Carlos Guillen had three hits and drove in a run; Magglio Ordonez had two runs and one hit; and Curtis Granderson had three hits for the Tigers, who continue to surprise by improving to 27-13 with their seventh straight victory.

Winner Kenny Rogers (7-2) surrendered two runs and five hits in 5 2/3 innings, walking two and striking out four. Todd Jones registered his 12th save.

Lew Ford had one run and three hits, Mike Redmond had three hits and one RBI, and Rondell White drove in two runs for the Twins (17-24).

Minnesota has five-game losing streak.

Losing pitcher Brad Radke (4-5) gave up five runs and 10 hits in six innings.
