NHL: Colorado 5, Dallas 4 (OT)

DALLAS, April 25 (UPI) -- Joe Sakic scored in overtime as seventh-seeded Colorado defeated the Dallas Stars, 5-4, to take command of its Western Conference quarterfinal set.

Milan Hejduk paced the offense with a goal and three assists while Brett Clark forced the extra session with a late third-period marker for the Avalanche. Jose Theodore made 21 saves in the victory.

The Avalanche will try to take a 3-0 lead when they return home for a Wednesday night showdown.

Jere Lehtinen had a pair of tallies and Mike Modano added a goal and an assist for Dallas, which overcame an early 3-0 deficit but was unable to hold on. Netminder Marty Turco allowed five goals on 23 shots.
