NHL: Toronto 5, Montreal 3

TORONTO, March 7 (UPI) -- Mats Sundin had two goals and Tomas Kaberle a goal and three assists Tuesday to lead the Toronto Maple Leafs to a 5-3 win over the Montreal Canadiens.

Kyle Wellwood and Jason Allison also scored for Toronto, which halted a five-game losing streak. It was the Leafs first victory since Feb. 7.

Toronto goalie Eddie Belfour allowed three goals on 33 shots.

Toronto, a perennial playoff team, is in 10th place in the Eastern Conference overall standings and must make up ground over the season's final six weeks to qualify for post-season play.

Richard Zednik, Chris Higgins and Andrei Markov each scored for Montreal, which failed to record at least a point for the first time in 10 games (6-1-3). Cristobal Huet made 29 saves in the loss.
