NBA: San Antonio 98, Dallas 89

SAN ANTONIO, March 3 (UPI) -- Tony Parker scored 23 points to lead San Antonio past Dallas, 98-89, in a matchup of the top teams in the NBA's Western Conference Thursday night.

Tim Duncan added 15 points and six rebounds for the Spurs, who won their fifth straight game and tied Dallas for the Southwest Division lead. Michael Finley chipped in with 15 off the bench while Robert Horry tallied 12 points and Bruce Bowen recorded 11 in the win.

Dirk Nowitzki and Jason Terry each posted 23 points for the Mavericks, who lost for the first time in seven games and for just the second time in their past 21 outings. Josh Howard netted 15 points while Jerry Stackhouse tallied 10 in the loss.
