Clijsters returns with a win at Antwerp

ANTWERP, Belgium, Feb. 15 (UPI) -- Kim Clijsters Wednesday beat Tatiana Golovin in three sets at the Proximus Diamond Games at Antwerp, Belgium.

The scores were 4-6, 7-6 (7-4), 7-5. It was the first match Clijsters played in a month since suffering a right ankle injury at the Australian Open. The 18-year-old Golovin was a semifinalist last week at the Open Gaz de France in Paris.

Clijsters, who captured this tournament in 2004 and was the runner-up in 2003, will face Dinara Safina in the quarterfinals on Friday.

In other action, fourth-seeded Nadia Petrova beat Ana Ivanovic 7-5, 6-3; Safina topped Katarina Srebotnik 6-2, 6-4; and Eleni Daniilidou beat Klara Koukalova, 6-4, 6-1. Daniilidou joined the draw on Tuesday when third-seeded Mary Pierce withdrew because of a foot injury.
