NHL: Phoenix 6, San Jose 2

GLENDALE, Ariz., Jan. 29 (UPI) -- Mike Comrie scored twice and goaltender Curtis Joseph turned aside 34 shots as the Phoenix Coyotes downed the visiting San Jose Sharks, 6-2.

Keith Ballard added a goal and two assists for the Coyotes, while Mike Ricci and Mike Johnson also lit the lamp in the win.

Scott Hannan and Jonathan Cheechoo each scored as the Sharks lost their second straight game. Cheechoo added an assist.

Evgeni Nabokov allowed two goals on 14 shots before being pulled in the second frame, but that didn't do much good, as Vesa Toskala came on in relief and stopped just 7-of-11 shots he faced.

The Sharks failed on six power-play attempts, while Phoenix was 1-for-6.
