Baghdatis moves to Australian Open finals

MELBOURNE, Jan. 26 (UPI) -- Cypriot Marcos Baghdatis beat fourth-seeded Argentine David Nalbandian in five sets Thursday to reach the final at the 2006 Australian Open.

The unseeded Baghdatis was down two sets, but staged a comeback to oust Nalbandian, 3-6, 5-7, 6-3, 6-4, 6-4. Baghdatis -- who has beaten three of the top-seven seeds here over the last five days -- will play Sunday in the final against the winner of Friday's Roger Federer-Nicolas Kiefer semifinal.

The 20-year-old Baghdatis -- ranked 54th in the world -- eliminated second-seeded American Andy Roddick in the fourth round and seventh-seeded Croat Ivan Ljubicic in the quarterfinals.
