OKLAHOMA CITY, Jan. 1 (UPI) -- Dirk Nowitzki compiled 24 points, 10 rebounds and five assists Saturday night to help Dallas beat the New Orleans/Oklahoma City Hornets, 95-90.
Josh Howard had 20 points and seven rebounds; Jason Terry added 20 points; and Jerry Stackhouse had 14 points, three rebounds and two assists for the Mavericks (22-8), who have won two in a row following a three-game skid.

David West registered 18 points and 10 rebounds; reserve Speedy Claxton had 17 points, two assists and two rebounds; and Chris Paul had 16 points and 10 assists for the Hornets (12-17), who have lost two straight and four of their last five games.
The contest was tied at 44 at halftime. The Hornets out-rebounded Dallas, 39-37.
