Toronto gets Terry Glaus from Arizona

TORONTO, Dec. 27 (UPI) -- The Toronto Blue Jays acquired third baseman Troy Glaus and Sergio Santos from Arizona Tuesday for infielder Orlando Hudson and pitcher Miguel Batista.

Glaus hit .258 with 37 homers and 97 RBI for Arizona last season. The 37 home runs were the second highest among big league third basemen, behind only Alex Rodriguez, who hit 48 for the New York Yankees. It was the fourth time Glaus has hit 30 or more homers.

Glaus, an eight-year veteran and three-time All-Star, is a lifetime .253 hitter with 219 homers and 612 RBI while playing with the Anaheim Angels and Diamondbacks.

Santos, 22, played for Triple-A Tucson last year, where he hit .239 with 12 homers and 68 RBI.

Batista, 34, had 31 saves and a 4.10 ERA as the closer for the Blue Jays last year. Hudson, a four-year veteran, had 63 RBI and hit .271 for the Blue Jays last season.
