NHL: Los Angeles 4, San Jose 3

LOS ANGELES, Dec. 27 (UPI) -- Sean Avery scored the game-winning goal as the Los Angeles Kings held off an intense San Jose rally for a 4-3 win over the Sharks.

Mike Cammalleri, Craig Conroy and Joe Corvo each tallied a power-play goal and Mathieu Garon made 22 saves for Los Angeles. Lubomir Visnovsky and Pavol Demitra had two assists each for the Kings.

Jonathan Cheechoo scored a pair of goals and Evgeni Nabokov stopped 26 shots for San Jose, which has lost three straight and four of its last five games. Milan Michalek added a goal for the Sharks.
