NHL: Buffalo 4, N.Y. Islanders 3 (SO)

UNIONDALE, N.Y., Nov. 23 (UPI) -- Ales Kotalik and Tim Connolly scored shootout goals Wednesday night as Buffalo beat New York Islanders, 4-3.

Kotalik had scored the game-tying goal late in the third period, Chris Drury and Jochen Hecht also scored and Martin Biron made 23 saves for the Sabres (12-9-1), who have won four of their last five games.

Brian Campbell added two assists for Buffalo, which bounced back from a shootout loss to the New York Rangers on Tuesday.

Mike York had a goal and an assist, while Brent Sopel and Jason Blake both notched goals and Rick DiPietro made 25 saves for the Islanders (11-10-1), who have lost two of their last three games.

The Sabres out-shot the Islanders, 31-28. Buffalo went 1-for-4 on the power play, while New York was 1-for-5.
