NHL: Edmonton 2, San Jose 1

EDMONTON, Alberta, Nov. 22 (UPI) -- Ales Hemsky and Ryan Smyth each scored in the shootout to lift the Edmonton Oilers, 2-1, over the visiting San Jose Sharks at Rexall Place.

Michael Morrison made 21 saves in his second NHL start and stopped two shootout chances as well for the Oilers, who posted their third win in four games. Marty Reasoner tallied Edmonton's lone regulation marker.

Patrick Marleau recorded a goal and Evgeni Nabokov registered 20 saves for the struggling Sharks, who fell to 0-3-3 over their last six games.

Edmonton finished 0-for-5 on the power play, while the Sharks converted on 1-of-6 tries with the extra skater.
