NFL: Minnesota 27, Detroit 14

MINNEAPOLIS, Nov. 6 (UPI) -- Brad Johnson tossed two touchdown passes Sunday as the Minnesota Vikings beat Detroit, 27-14.

Johnson, making his first start of the season in the absence of the injured Daunte Culpepper, completed 15 of 22 throws for 136 yards and had no interceptions. Michael Bennett gained 106 yards on 18 carries and caught a scoring pass, and Mewelde Moore added 49 yards on 11 attempts for the Vikings (3-5).

Minnesota broke the contest open with a 21-point second quarter to take a 24-7 lead at the half.

Lions quarterback Joey Harrington was 28-of-48 passing for 263 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions. Two of his three picks were converted into touchdowns.

The Lions (3-5) were held to 58 yards rushing and starter Kevin Jones suffered a game-ending shoulder injury in the second quarter. Detroit's lone bright spot was wide receiver Scottie Vines, who had nine catches for 109 yards.
