Carl Edwards, Tony Stewart and pole-winner Matt Kenseth completed the top-five with Jimmie Johnson, Rusty Wallace, Casey Mears, Ricky Rudd and Jeff Gordon ending in spots 6-10.

Stewart's fourth-place finish, combined with Newman's early accident, gave him a 75-point lead over Newman after four of 10 "Chase for the Nextel Cup" events (5,684-5,609). Biffle jumped up two positions to third place, 88 points behind the leader. Martin also moved up two places to seventh overall.

Race five of the 10-race "Chase" is on Oct. 15.
