MLB: Milwaukee 6, Pittsburgh 5

MILWAUKEE, Aug. 31 (UPI) -- A two-run homer by Prince Fielder in the bottom of the ninth inning Wednesday afternoon lifted Milwaukee to a 6-5 win over Pittsburgh.

The home run helped the Brewers break a three-game skid. J.J. Hardy tied a career high with three hits, including a home run, and scored two runs, Bill Hall had three hits and Rickie Weeks added a two-run homer for Milwaukee.

Milwaukee closer Derrick Turnbow rose to 5-1 in relief. The Brewers improved to 35-29 at home.

Ty Wigginton and Jason Bay hit home runs for the Pirates, who have dropped six of their last seven games.

Losing pitcher Jose Mesa sank to 2-8, blowing a save chance for the fifth time this season.
