MLB: Florida 3, Washington 0

MIAMI, July 30 (UPI) -- Paul Lo Duca scored two runs and Miguel Cabrera had one RBI Saturday as Florida blanked the Washington Nationals, 3-0.

Mike Lowell and Juan Encarnacion both had two hits as Florida won its sixth in seven games. The Marlins now have taken eight of 10 overall.

Winner A.J. Burnett was nearly untouchable. He surrendered only four hits over seven scoreless innings with one walk and eight strikeouts.

Todd Jones earned his 20th save.

Loser John Patterson dropped to 4-3. He allowed two runs and five hits over six innings with three walks and six strikeouts, but Patterson was done in by three wild pitches -- the Marlins got their first two runs on them.

Both Jose Vidro (quad) and Jose Guillen (shoulder) missed the game for Washington, which has lost six in a row, nine of 10 and 18 of its last 23 games.
