MLB: Detroit 7, Cleveland 3

CLEVELAND, July 6 (UPI) -- Chris Shelton and Magglio Ordonez each drove in two runs Wednesday night as the Detroit Tigers topped the Cleveland Indians, 7-3.

Winning pitcher Jeremy Bonderman improved to 11-5. He yielded two runs and five hits with two walks and five strikeouts over eight innings.

Bonderman became the first Detroit pitcher to record 11 wins before the All-

Star break since Bill Gullickson won 11 games in 1991.

Loser C.C. Sabathia dropped to 6-5. Over 4 1/3 innings, he surrendered five runs and 10 hits without a walk and two strikeouts.

Shelton had three hits, Ordonez added two doubles and scored twice, and Placido Polanco, Carlos Guillen, Ivan Rodriguez and Craig Monroe all had two hits apiece for the Tigers, who had 15 hits in the contest.

Cleveland has dropped two in a row after winning nine of 11.

Travis Hafner had two hits and Jhonny Peralta was 2-for-4 with an RBI for the Indians.
