Leonard increases lead to five

MEMPHIS, May 27 (UPI) -- Justin Leonard extanded his lead to five shots Friday at the midway point of the FedEx St. Jude Classic.

Leonard shot a 5-under 65 at the TPC Southwind course, giving him a 36-hole total of 13-under 127. Fredrik Jacobson was alone in second at 132 following a 64 and Paul Goydos was third at 133.

Matt Gogel, Heath Slocum, Tom Pernice and Roland Thatcher shared fourth at 134. Defending champion David Toms was tied for 33rd at 139

One week after winning the Bank of America Colonial, Kenny Perry missed the cut by five shots.

Leonard has won at least one tournament in eight of the last 10 years and he captured the Bob Hope Classic earlier this season.

He has made only one bogey in the first 36 holes, that coming Friday on the par-4 12th.
