CLEVELAND, April 28 (UPI) -- Mike Maroth equaled a career best with eight strikeouts Thursday night as Detroit edged Cleveland, 3-2.
Maroth (2-1) allowed two runs on four hits while Ivan Rodriguez had an RBI and scored a run.

It was Detroit's fourth straight win while Cleveland has lost three in a row and six of eight.
Kevin Millwood (0-3) gave up three runs on six hits with seven strikeouts in seven innings.
Detroit scored all of its runs in the first inning. Brandon Inge opened the inning with a triple and scored on an infield single by Rodriguez.
The Tigers eventually loaded the bases, Rodriguez scored on Dmitri Young's ground out and Carlos Guillen came in on a sacrifice fly by Craig Monroe.
