NBA: New Jersey 85, Atlanta 84

ATLANTA, Jan. 17 (UPI) -- The New Jersey Nets withstood a late Atlanta rally to beat the Hawks 85-84 Monday.

Vince Carter and Jason Kidd each scored 23 points for the Nets, who had lost their previous four games.

Nineteen of Kidd's points came in the second half.

Al Harrington led the Hawks with 22 points. Tyronn Lue added 17. Antoine Walker had 14 points and 11 rebounds.

Atlanta erased a nine-point deficit and tied the game at 78, but the Nets jumped back ahead to stay.
