San Diego, which already won the AFC West division, had the No. 4 seed in the playoffs locked up prior to this game and because of that played without many of its regulars, sitting out quarterback Drew Brees, running back LaDainian Tomlinson and tight end Antonio Gates.

Trent Green completed 33 of 53 passes for 373 yards with one touchdown and four interceptions for the Chiefs (7-9), who had their four-game winning streak halted.
