COL FB: Texas 38, Michigan 37

PASADENA, Calif., Jan. 1 (UPI) -- Dusty Mangum kicked a 37-yard field goal as time expired Saturday to give No. 5 Texas a 38-37 victory over No. 12 Michigan in the 91st Rose Bowl.

Sophomore quarterback Vince Young accounted for all five of the Longhorns' touchdowns -- running for four and passing for the other. Texas rallied from a 10-point deficit in the fourth quarter to win its first BCS bowl game.

Texas (11-1) was also making its first-ever trip to the Rose Bowl after edging out No. 4 California in the BCS standings at the end of the regular season.

Michigan receiver Braylon Edwards set a Rose Bowl record with three touchdown receptions and finished with 11 catches for 121 yards in his final game.

Freshman quarterback Chad Henne passed for 245 yards and four touchdowns for the Wolverines (9-3).
