NBA: Memphis 72, Detroit 68

MEMPHIS, Dec. 11 (UPI) -- Shane Battier hit four free throws in the final 19 seconds Saturday night to give the Memphis Grizzlies a 72-68 victory over the Detroit Pistons.

Pau Gasol had 20 points and eight rebounds to help the Grizzlies to their third win in four games. Earl Watson contributed 11 points and five assists as Memphis snapped a six-game losing streak to the defending World Champions.

Rasheed Wallace, who missed Friday's 88-72 loss to Atlanta with a hamstring injury, led the Pistons with 22 points and 10 rebounds. Richard Hamilton netted 18 points in defeat.

Chauncey Billups sank two foul shots with 36 seconds left to tie the score. Hamilton was called for grabbing Battier's jersey in a rebound scramble and the former Duke star made both attempts to put Memphis in front.
