Broadhurst, Fichardt lead Open de Madrid

MADRID, Oct. 23 (UPI) -- Paul Broadhurst shot a 3-under 68 Saturday for a share of the lead after the third round of the Open de Madrid.

Broadhurst finished 54 holes at 13-under-par 200 for a tie with Darren Fichardt, who shot a 67.

Ivo Giner had a 7-under 64 to join Graeme McDowell, Brett Rumford and Richard Sterne at 12-under-par 201.

Johan Edfors was tied for the lead on the 18th tee, but a lost ball led to a double-bogey and a round of 69. Edfors finished at 11-under 202 with Miguel Angel Jimenez, Anders Hansen, Raphael Jacquelin and Terry Price.

Broadhurst, an Englishman, has not won on the European Tour since the 1995 Open de France.

Fichardt, 38-yearold South African, is a two-time winner on the European Tour.

Jamie Donaldson was three back at 10-under 203 after a 68. Trevor Immelman, Gary Murphy, Henrik Stenson and Philip Golding followed at 204.
